Dry day awareness session
June 23, 2023
Natural Science Association 2022-24 “IZDIHAR” along with IQAC has organised an awareness programme related with dry day on June 23, 2023 (Friday) at Auditorium.
As part of the National Dengue Day, dry day has been observed in Kerala by cleaning the house, surroundings and public places and removing stagnant water. The Kerala Government has called for sanitation in view of the coming monsoon season as the current rains are likely to spread dengue fever. Sources of mosquitoes have been found in and around homes in areas where dengue has occurred.
As a citizen of our country, it is our duty to be cautious and be aware of the relevant problem that we are facing and dangerous for the future days. That’s why our association has decided to conduct such a short time awareness session to be useful to each and every one in our college. The message of the day is “Dengue prevention starts at home”.
This dry day not only focuses on dengue fever but also all types of diseases including waterborne. Poor sanitation and unhygienic conditions breed micro- organisms that spread waterborne diseases causing breakouts of diseases that has the ability to affect a whole community which can affect us anytime, anywhere. Therefore, it is important to be vigilant, keep our environment clean, and practice good hygiene at all times.
With the support and guidance of our mentor Mrs Shiney ma’am the awareness session was presented along with a power point presentation including a short awareness video. First an introduction was given to the audience about the occasion of the gathering in the hall by Arathi. Then Sruthy gave some information about the various diseases, its causative organism and symptoms. After that Sr Ranit Jose aware us about the importance of dry day. Then comes Leeanda with the preventive measures which can be taken in order to prevent the diseases such as draining stagnant water, waste material should be disposed of, usage of mosquitoe net and cream, wearing mask etc. After giving a general awareness about the day we also presented a video to strengthen our ideas.
Towards concluding session Aleena presented our decision of extending dry day to dry week. As a future Nation builders, we decided to give our audience the duties to be done on each day as part of dry week. By providing the details of activities to complete each day we concluded our awareness session.
Each day we released posters and shared among the college groups in order to remember the dry week activities to be done.
